Our Story

Once upon a time, a long time ago, there was a little girl. She dreamed with stars in her eyes from the very beginning. She lived inside her own magical world filled with grand ideals and perfect endings. As she grew, she began to look around every corner for her Prince Charming.  Of course, there were frogs along the way; but as fate had it, she eventually met him on the euphoric, bright green lawn of William Jewell College in 1987. The young scholars married soon after earning their diplomas. Prince Charming’s dreams of seeing to it that all are treated fairly under the law, and the girl’s dreams of teaching the next generation of bright children came to fruition. They both wished for a big family, and 5 wishes came true. These five children were the light of their lives. Each one was unique, each with their own beautiful passions and their own dragons to fight. There were indeed exquisite fairy tale moments in this family life, but the Prince and Princess endured some painful battle scars along the way, only to discover that the quest for perfection was the evil villain all along. One day, the royal couple, with tears welling in their eyes, became wise to the fact that they couldn’t be on this quest alone. This adventure required clinging to their faith, wise counsel, and friendships that challenged and encouraged them to wear their crowns with humility and resilience.

So, now the prince and princess are waving goodbye to their five children as they are on their own quests towards adulthood. The mirror on the wall shows signs of lived experiences; the struggles and triumphs; the simultaneous pain and joy of turning the page to a new chapter. Life is filling them with new dreams. They look around and see young families, and it reminds them of beginning their own story together. Their hearts long to bring resources that will support them while also instilling bravery and perseverance. Locking arms, leaning in and learning together is what they long for; because “Happily Ever After” can be misleading, but “In It Together” makes the journey possible.
